Head Lice

About 6 or 7 girls in my daughter's class in kindy are having head lice. Head lice spreads easily and is difficult to get rid of. Fortunately my daughter does not have it and I am trying to prevent it. Everyday when she gets home, I check her hair and I try to wash it daily. Combing out the hair with a fine tooth comb when it is wet helps too. The teachers also regularly check the kids' hair to make sure that it does not continue spreading.

Here are some good links on head lice and how to manage it.

  1. Ooo... I got it when I was in primary school! My grandma bought some kind of oil for killing the lice. Wrapped up my head after applying that oil.

  4. Me too had "kutu" when in primary school. I remember feeling sad when my friends wouldn't come near me. My "real" friends helped me pick the lies from my head. Hahaha.

  5. Me always have kutu also in school. There was once my daughter (Ruby) came to Kuching with it while I was still in my confinement. The kids and maid was sleeping together while I slept with the baby. My son and maid oso kena kutu. I had to buy kutu shampoo to get rid of it. Luckily, my confinement was ending. When ended, I quickly washed my hair with the kutu shampoo.

  9. Both my girls got head lice a few months back. The one with thinner hair actually got first from her kindy classmate, then spread to her elder sis. I was wondering how I could have not noticed the lice for so long...such a bad mummy. Had to apply the medication twice with intervals of 7 days.

  10. ming,
Fortunately, the teachers in the kindy was diligent, otherwise, I wouldn't have noticed too and it would have spread to my household as well. :P
