Mothers Taking Care Of Themselves

Quote For Mothers

Mothers, do you take care of yourselves? I do. I take care of myself by spending time on me and my own personal development.

First there was me.... before I became a mother.

I started blogging on my Parenting blog called Parenting Times, 11 years ago in 2004 because I had breastfeeding problems and I wanted to reach out to other mothers who were in the same position as me, other SAHMs. Eventually, that Parenting Blog became a blog for my children to record the funny moments with them, the time we spent doing crafts together etc. As they grew, the blog evolved to include educational items and sites for children because I was using them for my children.
Then I wanted a voice for the Mother in me. So I started my blog for mothers and called it Mothering Times. It was the same as my Parenting Blog. At first it was to share stories about pregnancy, childbirth and bringing up babies, it moved on to toilet training, teething, sleep, looking after babies, then toddler hoods, preschoolers and now grade school children.
But there was nothing for me, personally. I had to have a voice for myself. That was how my Personal Blog Mumsgather.com was born.
I believe that whether you are a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom), a WAHM (Work at Home Mom), a FTWM (Full Time Working Mom), you need to remember to take care of yourself first before you can take care of your family. You must remember to take care of yourself physically and mentally. My personal blog is my place to take care of me mentally. I find writing extremely therapeutic. So I spend several hours each day focusing on me.
How do you take care of yourself?
If you are a SAHM

With work, family balance to juggle and relationships between family, co-workers and bosses to manage, it is sure to drive any woman insane.
You are not alone, some of these books are aimed at working moms who want to stay sane. Check them out.

Guides for the Work at Home Mom

The Work at Home Mom... do you have the best of both worlds or do you have to manage the load of both worlds? It is up to you.
Here are some guides to show you how to work from home and reap the benefits of the stay at home mom as well as the working mom.

Women Quarreling In Forums

Women Gossiping
Before blogs, Facebook and Twitter came along, there were forums. Forums are still around but many people now use Facebook and Facebook groups like their own personal forum.

Being one who in real life prefer to listen rather than talk, I also "listened" in forums. Wow! I was surprised at what I "heard".

Forums and other new social media now can turn to be pretty ugly places at times. I didn't know that one can actually argue and quarrel without meeting. I watched friendships form and disintegrate. The online world is just like the real world sometimes.

I try to stick away from negativity though I must admit that once, just once in my almost 10 years of blogging, I got heated up with a commenter and I had an online argument back and forth in my comments page for the world to see. It is most unbecoming. In fact, negativity of any form makes you ugly. See how ugly those women in my cartoon are? Well, those engaging in gossiping, nagging, complaining, arguing, quarreling usually look ugly when they do it. What do you think?

Mother's Day Images

Ever since my dear friend, Kopi Soh encouraged me to draw, I haven't been able to stop! It is amazing what one can draw with an index finger and an ipad! I love it! Kopi Soh showcases her art on a facebook page called Stick It To Me which I absolutely adore! I love her drawings.

Since Mother's Day is just round the corner, I drew a few Mother's Day Images just for fun. Here are my Mother's Day images.

Mother's Day Graphics
This Mother's Day Image is a silhouette image of a mother carrying her daughter who is giving her a kiss on the cheek. They are connected by a big heart.
Mother's Day Cartoon
This Mother's Day Image is a simple lines mother and daughter hugging picture.
Mother with two kids cartoon
And this Mother's day image is a cartoon of me and my kids. Actually, they are much older than this now but I have a boy and a girl so here we are. Happy Mother's Day to everyone.

Housework Equals Exercise

Woman Exercising Cartoon
I haven't been doing a lot of exercises for some time because I have been busy with housework. However, recently, when I went to YouTube for my favorite workout videos and tried those quick 20 or 30 minute workouts, to my surprise I found that I had not lost my stamina. Doing those YouTube fitness workouts for 20 minutes or so did not leave me breathless as I had thought it would since I had not been very diligent with my workouts.

I found that I could do them easily as before. Thanks to my daily workouts with my mop and my pail. Actually, I use the mop and pail only once or twice a week. ;) I think its carrying the children's 4 heavy bags to and from the car and up and down the stairs that contributes. (No, I don't have 4 kids, but their school bag load is so crazy, they each carry not one but TWO heavy bags to school daily).

So, if  you're a SAHM like me and you don't belong to an expensive gym, fret not. You can still have your workout in your own personal gym with your own personal trainer (the mop, pail of water and heavy school bags). Exercise is free. You can do it anytime.

Mother's Day My Way

Image Credit: Myself. (The best way to get original work is to draw them yourself or to take your own photos.) This drawing is of me and my mom wringing out our towel by hand. Read on to find out why.

The other day as I was washing the dishes, I looked at the window in front of me and saw a reflection of a 40 plus lady in a modern kitchen with all the conveniences and facilities that we have today. I thought to myself, "mom, if only you were here today, you would be so delighted" and I thought "I shouldn't be complaining about all the housework I have to do, not with these facilities that mom never had."

You see, my mother passed away when I was 10 years old. Cancer took away my mom. We didn't have any of the modern day conveniences we now have. Dishes were always done on the floor with a bucket of water. Mom would clean them while I rinse in another bucket of clean water. It was the same with our laundry. They were done in buckets of water on the floor. We would first rinse in one bucket, then another. Towels and bedsheets had to be squeezed dry with mom turning on one end and me on the other. Mom would be delighted with the washing machine we now have and the double sink. We don't have a dishwasher but a double sink is so much more when you have to wash your dishes in a bucket on the floor.

I am a mother now myself. I have a loving boy who just turned 9 and an inquisitive girl aged 11. Having grown up without a mother, I realize that the best Mother's Day gift is not something money can buy. The best Mother's Day gift is love and memories. Love from my children and for them to express their love to me in the form of hugs, kisses and being good kids now and good people in adulthood.

My love language is touch so naturally for Mother's Day, I would like to receive lots of hugs and kisses from the children from the moment I wake up till before I fall asleep at night. Hugs and Kisses, Love and Memories, they are all free. I would like to have them as much as I can. That is Mother's Day My Way.

Part Time Maid

I have two maids now. A daily one which does the daily laundry, washing, ironing, cooking, washing, that kind of thing. The other maid comes in twice a week for four hours each time. On one of the days, she will clean everything upstairs, cleaning up all the upstairs rooms, toilets, fans, aircon filters, mop the floor, wipe everything table tops etc. The other day is for downstairs doing much the same as upstairs.

Actually both maids are me. I've decided that its better to really focus on doing housework for 4 sometimes 5 hours a day but only for twice a week so I won't feel overwhelmed by it and so that I will have some "free time". Of course, there is never ever real "free time". That's where the other "maid" comes in for the daily stuff.

I've found that every since the real maid left, I've been so swamped by housework that it has left me no more inspiration to write. I used to love waking up each day and really being excited and looking forward to writing. I even managed to a book of poems and a breastfeeding help book. Housework killed that. Hopefully, my twice a week plan works out, so that I can have some focus again. I didn't realize it but when I write, I need to focus too. I need concentration and the more I write, the more I have to write about. Housework killed that focus.

I'm slowly trying to get back into my writing mode. I've been out of active action since July last year when I got chicken pox and my maid went back for a holiday. She came back for two months but then the year end holidays arrived and I was busy with the kids. In addition, in October the maid left abruptly which left me swarmed with chores. It's almost half a year now. I should be settled down by now.

I still have this freeze in my mind where my words use to flow freely. I need to be motivated and inspired again. During my absence (from writing) I've missed out some fun quests at Squidoo too. I managed to put in one recently for the Imminent Picture Perfect Reel Challenge. We were supposed to take our own pictures and write a lens (a page on Squidoo is called a lens) using those pictures. My lens was one of the 15 to win a raffle ticket this week. Can you spot which one it is from here? Ok, ok, I'll save you the trouble. It is this lens on Choosing Cross Stitch Patterns. The cross stitch pictures on the lens are all my own. This is the second lens I wrote after a long time. I'm happy its still good enough to be featured. The first lens I wrote after getting back into action is this one: What To Look For When Buying A Juicer. I used to be able to write a lens a day but now...

I need to get back into my blogging mode too. So far, I've managed some posts. Hope I can keep it up.

My Parenting Blog Deleted

My Parenting Blog was deleted for spam and is currently under review. My blog is not spam. It is a Parenting Blog that has been online for 8 years. I wonder what triggered this, maybe my account was compromised in some way.

Before the deletion, I had problems using google on my handphone. It kept on asking me for my password but when I keyed in my password,  it kept on saying it was the wrong password. So I used my desktop to enter the password and I vaguely remember, I had to request for a code to be sent to my handphone twice before I could enter my account.

After that, I found only 1 blog on my dashboard out of my 5 blogs. Yes, I have 5 but 1 of them is dormant at the moment and not made public. Anyway, I managed to quickly restore 2 more blogs. I can't remember how I did it. However, 1 more blog which was marked as deleted could not be restored. I had to fill up a form to request for it to be reviewed and restored.

After 2 days and still no news, I decided to post in Google groups to see if the process could be expedited. I really hope to get my blog back.

It is a diary of my kids activities, the crafts we did, the education issues we face and more. I always use google search to search for an event in our lives when I can't remember it and now its gone in its entirety and I can't access any of my posts. I want my posts back. They are my diary and that is what a blog is after all isn't it? A blog is an online diary. Only, the danger of an online diary compared to a pen and paper one is, the online diary can disappear overnight without warning.

I really hope to get my blog back soon. I feel so sad to see it gone.

Updated: My blog was restored after I posted in the Blogger Forum but after 6 days it was deleted again! I feel like pulling my hair out!

You Don't Have To Rot When You Stay At Home As A SAHM

You don't have to rot when you stay at home as a stay at home mom (SAHM).

I am a SAHM and I often meet people who tell me "Oh, No, I can't stay at home 24/7 like you, I'd die of boredom!" Well, I didn't die of boredom, thank you very much. In fact, I'm thriving as I discoverd my passion in writing.

Today, I'm going to write about other SAHMs, amazing mommy bloggers and SAHMs from Malaysia who didn't die from boredom as well. In fact they are flurorishing and I don't think they have the time to feel bored. I have known some of them for a long time from our early blogging days, almost 8 years and that is a very long time indeed for the online world.

The SAHM mommy bloggers I have featured here are in random.

1. When I think of this SAHM blogger, I see cute crochet stuffed toys.

That's amazing Samm who is very talented in crocheting. She certainly has no time to be bored. She has several blogs and does amazing Amigurumi, a kind of Japanese art of knitting or crocheting stuffed toys.

Check out Samm's Fibre Art Creations Blog and visit Samm's Amigurumi Cafe on Facebook. She's also a great cook as you can see here on her Organic Samm Blog.

She is also a SAHM to two lovely boys. Bored SAHM? I don't think she has the time.

2. Another amazing SAHM mommy who does not have time to rot is Montessorrimum who is a mother of four. She is a very hands on mother. I don't know where she finds the time to do all the crafty stuff she does with her kids who are still young.

Recently, when I think about her, I see Wikkistix,a creative craft tool, teaching aid and educational toy.

Wikkistix is her new baby. You can support this SAHM by visiting and liking her Wikkistix fan page on Facebook.

This is another SAHM who has no time to be bored. I can sense that sometimes she is restless and thinks about returning to work. Well, I wish her all the best whichever path she may choose but at the moment, I think she is doing very well indeed.

3. This pretty SAHM is an amazing lady. She is a mother to two active and adorable boys. You can read about their antics on her blog, She calls it Blablablabla - Our Comical Life.

A rotting SAHM she certainly is not. A very creative lady, she is a freelance graphic designer that designs prints on designs for packaging and premiums. I don't know which she does better, graphic designing or sewing or crafting and anything creative. She can create something beautiful out of anything.

Perhaps you are wondering why I am  using the picture of bottles to represent such a creative person? That is because, besides busy creating and designing, you will most likely find Sasha at BYOB Subang Branch, a new concept store to reuse, recyle and economize by Bringing Your Own Bottles to buy detergent and other household stuff. Read Sasha's story about how she turned from BYOB user to owner here .

4. Her facebook page says: SAHM with 4 kiddies. Golf clubs are collecting dust and cobwebs in the store room. (She used to be a national golfer) Running an online Family Bookshop on the side. You can read the story about how she started her online Value Bookshop here. I guess that says it all. Being a mama of 4, she has lots of tips to give you on her blog Mama's Bag Of Tricks where she shares with you her personal collection of Parenting Tips and Tricks. Sometimes she shares interesting recipes too as you can see from this picture. Yum!
5. Shireen is a mother to three sweet little girls. Her youngest is pictured here. She has been through a lot which makes her all that much more adorable and sweet.

This is another SAHM who has no time to rot. In fact, she wishes she has more time to look after her dearies, her online store: Old & New Stuff For Sale and her several blogs.

In addition to running an online store and taking care of her 3 lovelies, she also writes several blogs, I've lost track of how many, this is one of them with many followers Health Freak Mommy and yes, in addition to this family blog, she has a separate health blog as well.

6. When I see baby slings and cloth pads, I think of Chin Nee and Mama Patch. She is a SAHM mother to twin boys and a girl.

You can see and read about her cute twins and girl on her blog Demoments.net. Taking care of twins must be very tiring but it does not stop this amazing SAHM, online shop owner and blogger.

Bored? Who has the time to be bored?

7. This young and pretty SAHM and super mommy blogger, Merryn has a blog called Home Is Where My Heart Is. The title of her blogs says it all. Stay At Home Is where she belongs. Is she bored? No!

You will find  her running around a lot attending and blogging about many exciting events around town.

She is a mother to one very lucky boy who benefits from her creativity and home teaching. She also runs Crafty Crafted, a craft centre suitable for young children and toddlers.

You can see some of her cool crafts on her crafting blog called Crafty Crafted. You can get lots of crafting ideas for small children from this blog with craft instructions too.

8. This is a mother to one very lucky and talented little boy called Reese Mathew. Her blog is simply called "Resse Mathew's Secret Isle. I love the Education Category on her blog. Just reading it gives you an idea the amount of love and effort this mother puts into her child's education.

Not long ago, she started a Facebook page called Reese's Secret Gallery to showcase all of Reese's incredible drawings and art. The one on the left is one of his drawings. Can you guess how old Reese is to have drawn such an amazing artwork? Check out Reese's Secret Gallery to find out.

I could go on but I guess I will stop here. I hope you enjoyed reading and getting to know these amazing SAHM's better. The message I want to impart in this blog post is SAHM's do not rot at home. SAHMs do not have time to be bored at home and SAHMs are certainly not boring people, don't you think so?

Moms, Give Yourselves A Pat On The Back

I know many moms who suffer from guilt trips. Instead of patting themselves on their backs for doing a good job, they always worry about what they are NOT doing for their children.

  • If you are a full time working mom, give yourself a pat on the back for contributing to the finances of the family instead of kicking yourself over not spending enough time with your children
  • If you are a stay at home mom, give yourself a pat on the back for being able to spend time taking care of your household and your children instead of fretting over how you are not contributing to the family expenses
  • If you are a single mum who has to do everything for your kids, give yourself three pats on the back for being able to do the best that you can under challenging circumstances
  • If you are a working mum who comes back and do the housework and still find time to help with your child's homework, give yourself three pats on the back for being a super mom instead of stressing out over how little time you have for yourself and your partner
  • If you are a housewife who does not do very much housework but prefers to spend more time educating your kids, give yourself a pat on the back instead of thinking about how you should spend more time looking after the house since you are not working
So, go on now, give yourself a pat on the back. I shall give myself a pat on my back too even though I do not contribute to the family expenses and sometimes I lose it and I yell at the kids at the top of my voice from seeing them 24/7, even though my house is somewhat neglected although I am 'not working", I shall give myself a pat on my back and so shall you!

The Burden Of Responsibility Of A Mum And A Housewife

I was not feeling well for the past week. To make matters worse, my full time helper at home went back to her hometown for a holiday for a month. To make it even worse, the boy was not able to attend school for about a week due to some virus which gave him vomiting and diarrhea. To add to the troubles, his sister had chicken pox and had to stay home for a week too. The spouse had lots of important meetings during this time so he was not able to help out very much. The kids have piles of homework to catch up on.

However, with the kids sick, there was no way they could eat takeaway food from outside. So, even though I felt feverish, nausea and ill, I had to drag myself out of bed to prepare food and clean up, make sure the toilets were clean enough not to make anyone else more sick then they already were and take care of other basic hygiene. That is the burden of responsibility.

Meals have to be taken care of or there will be nothing to eat. Clothes need to be laundered and ironed or there will be nothing to wear and basic hygiene and cleanliness must be met in the house and by its occupants and it is mum's burden of responsibility that the tiny people of the house understand this. Kids are back in school and there are tons of homework to catch up on, little uniforms to wash and press, homework help required.

Right at the time when I need it most to recover faster, I can't sleep just thinking about all there is that needs to be done. That is the burden of responsibility. Dad may talk about the financial burden but this certainly isn't any easier. Thankfully, I have a helper to assist me most of the time. I hope she comes back.

Online Mothers

I am an Online Mother. What does it mean to be an online mother? Being an online mother means ...
  1. 1. I have to prioritize my time between online and family
  2. 2. I sometimes feel guilty if I spend too much time online
  3. 3. I have loads of other online mother friends whom I can turn to when I need a shoulder to cry on or someone to listen to when I vent
  4. 4. I look forward to each day full of exciting online activities and online interaction
  5. 5. I get a lot of support from other online mothers. I feel comforted to know I am not alone.
  6. 6. I give support to other online mothers.
  7. 7. I learn a lot from sharing with other online mothers.
  8. 8. I get many new ideas about parenting, kids activities, crafts, recipes, education and books and apps for kids etc from other online mothers.
  9. 9. I laugh, cry and bond with other online mothers whom I have never met and whom I may never meet.
  10. 10. I have a head full of online thoughts as I go through my day.
I am an Online Mother. Are you an Online Mom too? Say YES! if you are.

The biggest challenge an online mother faces is ...

How Not To Let The Computer Take Over Your Family Life.

More and more mothers are going online. Is online time taking over your family time? This is how I manage my online time with my personal or family time. How do you manage yours. Care to share?
  • - Morning for myself and my online activities, afternoon for my kids to help them with homework etc, evening and night is for the man
  • - No online activities on weekends and public holidays and whenever the man is on leave from work
  • - Use the old fashion paper and pen to write down ideas and articles and transfer them online when I finally do get to a PC. I don't have to be in f ront of a PC all the time.
  • - Never stress over not being able to get online for days or weeks or months. The online world will still be the same when you return.
  • - Take days off from online activities every now and then.

How long have I been a SAHM?

Which move shall I make? SAHM, WAHM or FTWM?

Once someone wrote to me to ask me whether I have regretted being a SAHM because she is at the crossroads of  her life and not sure whether to take that big step into HOUSEWIFELAND.

I can't remember how long I have been a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) or Housewife or whatever you want to call it. It is just a term. Its been so long that I can't remember. I have to count backwards. My kids are 9 and 7 now. I started blogging when the firstborn was 2 years old and before the 2nd one came along. I "stopped working" some time before that. However, I was on flexi time from the time I was pregnant with the first one if I remember correctly. I was a remisier who only went to the office for half days and sometimes only on alternate days. :P

So how long have I been a SAHM? I guess it is somewhere between 8 to 10 years! Wow! Has it been that long? So, have I rotted? Missed adult company? Grown inward? Become insecure? And nagging all the time? Become sloppy in dress and appearance? Lost self confidence? Have I become frumpy and grumpy? And everything else that a housewife is supposed to be?

Well.... maybe just a little of everything but hardly enough to be concerned about. Because I've continued to grow as a person and I am learning all the time. Thanks to my children and my blogs oh and not forgetting my blogging kakis (buddies) as well. :)

Anyway, to that person who asked, I wrote the following straight from my heart.

I guess you have to ask yourself what YOU really want. I guess what your husband wants may have to enter the equation too. Its no use staying home if your heart is not really in it. You will only feel that you are making a huge sacrifice and come to resent it and feel lonely and stuck at home and that can't be good for your baby. On the other hand if what you want is to stay home but circumstances force you to work, you will be equally unhappy. Your heart will always be home wanting to be with your baby while you are forced to be at work. Thats tough.

For me, it was very easy. I have always known that it was what I wanted. I am also lucky that my husband supported this decision. Since it is so clear cut for me, I have no regrets whatsoever. I am very happy. :) I had always thought that when the children are babies, they would need me more and one becomes freer later on but it is not true. Even as they grow up, you can never be there enough for them.

However, I do notice that my children are somewhat less independant than those who have been thrown on their own to take school buses, go to daycares, etc etc. Those children are more independant. That is the only "downside" I see.

I don't know what is your circumstances, only YOU have the answer but hopefully this helps some?

And to anyone else who may be wondering, whether you will be happy as a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) or WAHM (Work at Home Mom) or FTWM (Full Time Working Mom), the answer lies in YOU. There is nothing wrong in any of the choices. Your children won't suffer from it and neither will you as long as it is what YOU feel most happy and comfortable with. Being at peace with your decisions helps you to overcome the problems and stresses that come with your choices, whether it is office pressure or going bonkers from seeing the kids 24/7. Hopefully, you are free to make your own choices with no pressure from others or financially. And remember, even if you have made your choice and you find that it is not the right choice, it is never too late to change your mind at any point along your way. Hard though it may seem, nothing is impossible if your heart and mind is in it.

Happy weekend to all mothers whether SAHM, WAHM or FTWM. :)

Mothers with children growing up on the blogs

I have been blogging for close to 6 years now. My first blog post was in September 2004 on my first blog. I hadn't even realised it has been that long. This blog was started in 2006. It is all about my personal motherhood journey from pregnancy, to childbirth to newborn, toddlerhood, teething, feeding and toilet training.

Now, before I know it, I am writing about schooling, homework etc. How quickly time flies. It is simply amazing. In becoming a mother and learning to become a mother, I learn about myself and feel myself evolving all the time. That is amazing too.

I have made many blogger friends along the way, many of whom started writing about pregnancy, their newborns who became toddlers and whom are now preschoolers or early graders. What a ride.

I am very happy to have found blogging and for this network of blogger friends. I know that whenever I feel down, all I have to do is reach out on my blog and I know I am not alone. I know that somewhere out there, there is someone who has been there, done that who will tell me it is ok. I know there are others who are going through the same things who will cheer me on and give me the pat on the back I sometimes need as a mother when nobody else will. I know there will be those who will give me words of encouragement and support when I most need it.

To all those who have given me words of encouragement and support, I just want to say, Thank you.

An Internet Radio Station for New Parents

The other day I was reading a story to my little girl. The story was about computers and how useful it is to people. As I was reading the story, I was explaining to her about how we use our own computer at home.

We use it to store our photos, we use it as a dictionary or reference, we use it to watch short video clips of news or cartoons, we use to play games. Why, we even use it to tell the time! Lol! We use it to listen to the radio too and of course I must not forget blogs. We use it to blog and read blogs. We use it for networking too judging from the number of social networking sites recently.

Since this blog is for mothers, new and old, I'd like to highlight to you a radio site for New Parents. Do you look like your mother?

Mother's Day is coming so I just want to reminisce about my mom a little bit. She died when I was 10.

Mom was beautiful. I'm afraid that none of her 3 daughters inherited her looks. Hahaha. No, I don't look like her but I've been told that I am rather like her. She was soft spoken. I'm supposed to be soft spoken too but you wouldn't know it when you hear me shouting at my kids. Haha.

Back to mum's looks. She had 5 of us to look after, make that 6 plus dad. She cooked and washed our family's clothing sitting down in the wet area of our house with several pails around her. Some were filled with soap and others with water for rinsing. Sometimes I would help her to rinse the clothes. She must have been pretty busy just looking after us but she still had time to pursue her favourite passtimes... baking and sewing. She was fantastic at both baking and sewing. How good it would be if she were alive or lived longer to teach me those things.

Anyway, I digress. Despite all this, she still had time to look after herself. I remember my mum putting creams on her face. Sometimes she would stand in front of the mirror and complain about her figure and asked us if she were putting on weight. Sometimes she would ask us to rub lime on her back so that she would have a smoother back I presume. In those days, people relied very much on home or alternative treatments. Mum never had the chance to try out all the types and varieties of creams and makeup that we have nowadays. Mum never even had a dressing table for what little things she had. Yet, she still tried to make and keep herself beautiful. We were poor back then. If only mum were still alive when we were a little bit better off. She worked so hard to take care of us but she never had the chance to enjoy any of the finer things in life.

Whats the point of this post? I don't really know. I just want to remember mum. Another thing, despite not getting her looks I should learn from her in looking after myself a little bit better. I think as a woman, we should all still be a little vain, in the sense that we should never let ourselves go completely. We should make the effort to dress up our face at least if not our bodies. Its good for the self esteem and overall confidence. Yes, that is what I shall try to learn from my mother.

What about the rest of you ladies. Do you look like your mother? Have you inherited any of her traits? What would you like to learn from her?

Anyway, Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's who visit this blog. Hope you all have a good day. Despite my silly post the other day about Mother's Day Fantasy, the fact is all I am going to do on Mother's Day is stay home and be a MOTHER. The kids give me daily hugs and kisses so I'm going to enjoy that before they outgrow that! Lol!

What I REALLY want to do on Mother's Day

Last night as I dipped my hand into the toilet bowl to retrieve a toothpaste that had found its way in there...... and later again in the middle of the night when I was woken up from sleep by a vomitting girl and as I dipped my hand into the sink to unclog the vomit.......I started to daydream........ about what I'd REALLY like to do on Mother's Day.

On Mother's day, I would like to check into a spa resort WITHOUT THE KIDS in tow. The spouse can come along. Hahaha. I would like to be pampered from head to toe, massage, pedicure, manicure, headcure...... all day long. I would like to bathe in a floral bath with sweet scents and lie in a four poster bed with flower petals strewn on it and soft see through draperies drawn around it. I love four poster beds. I think they're so romantic but I haven't got a chance to sleep in one yet. Hopefully, in this lifetime...

Then I would like to dress up in something glamorous. I would like to dress up slowly without being interrupted. No rush. No rush since I don't have to dress up other small people at the same time and watch my makeup being ruined (that is if I have the time to do it in the first place) and sweat replacing my perfume. I would like to doll myself up and slip into a pair of impossibly high heels (those type that you can't wear when you're carrying a kid and chasing another around) with diamantes that glitter in the dark.

Then I would like to go for a dinner at a posh restaurant with live music overlooking the city nightlights. The night sky would be clear so one can see as far as the eye can see. I would like to eat food thats pleasing to the eye and teases the palate at the same time. I would like to drink champagne while listening to the soothing sounds of piano and some strings in the background. And my spouse would say to me "Hon, thank you for being such a wonderful Mother to our children. Here's to you." while he toasts me with the champagne. Hahaha. I'm so corny.

Then when dinner is over I would go back to my romantic four poster bed and jump on my man without being interrupted or the threat of interruption. Hahaha. Well, ok, I better stop my Mother's Day Fantasy here since this is a family friendly site. Lol!

Now back to the reality. Perhaps my Mother's Day Fantasy sounds a bit like my Wedding Anniversary Fantasy but since my Wedding Anniversary also falls in the month of May..... Besides the kids are still young, too young to understand the significance of Mother's Day. Perhaps when they are older I will have a different wish for Mother's Day. I'd wish to be pampered and waited upon by the two kiddoes from dawn to dusk. But in the meantime, their father has to be the one who has to do the work. But its not going to happen. We have a pact you see. We have a pact not to celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day till the kids are old enough to understand and celebrate it with us. Still, I can dream, can't I? *pouts*

Now I am interested in what YOU would really like to do on Mother's Day.

Don't hold back. Let it rip! Will you share your Mother's Day Fantasies on your blog. Then pass it on to other Mothers to share. Lets be silly and let our hair down. Then add your name and blog post url to the list and let it go around. I'll start with mine. Anyone can participate in this. Just write your blog post and add your name to the list. Its that simple.

Mommy Blogger Military Wife

Mommy Blogger MilitaryWife maintains a blog called Stay At Home Mom & Military Wife. As the name of her blog suggests, she is married to a Military Man and is a SAHM to two little ones, her almost 5 year old girl who is her Princess and her close to 1 year old baby boy who is her Little Man. In it she chronicles A day in the life of a Military Wife to a husband who's deployed plus SAHM to a little girl at school and a little boy in diapers.

I love the little M&Ms on her blog header which she uses to depict her little family. Military Man looks like a Transformer M&M (he looks really cool with raised eyebrows and all), Military Wife is a dazzling pink M&M, her little Princess is the lighter pink M&M in a tiara while baby boy is the pale blue M&M. Totally adorable.

If you like Memes, you may be interested to know that Military Wife is hosting a brand new Musical Monday Meme on her blog. Here's how the musical game works. Every Monday she will post a Musical Question on her blog and you are to answer the question on your blog. Simple and Fun and a good way to fill in for those days when you get a blogger's block. :)

Stay at Home Mom & Military Wife

And for those of you who likes crafts for kids, she posts a craft idea on her blog every Friday.
