Sick of Being Sick
Since before the school holidays, we have all been sick. The boy has seen the doctor 4 times, the girl, 2 times, me once and the man once. The kids were sick before the school holidays and they spent the entire one week of holiday hibernating at home, sleeping and eating medicine. They were bored to tears. When it was almost time to go back to school, the boy got a fever again and can't go back to school for another 2 days. He was on MC for 2 days before the school holidays. So he has an extra long holiday but not one that was enjoyable. The girl had fever during the holidays. She had some strange feelings that I am afraid may be hallucinations or auras during the few days when she had fever. Sigh.
The boy had 3 rounds of infections, the girl 2 rounds, me 2 rounds, the man 1 round but it looks like he is heading for 2nd round. I am truly sick of being sick. We can't seem to break this sick chain or cycle.
Besides being sick, we have been busy with other things too. At least we managed to fix our leaking air cons ourselves. However, our car got involved in a collision with another car. Nothing serious but the work involved is tiring. The running around making police reports, "negotiating" with the other driver, the repairs, the insurance claims all of which we are still right in the middle of doing. Sigh.
Oh and the income tax had to choose this time to call us in randomly to submit some documents in their audit. Sigh again. Tired. Tired. Hope that the kids and the rest of us recover completely and I mean completely soon and the rest gets settled so that we can move on with normal routine again.

Starting a small home based business
Being a blogger and a stay at home mom, it is natural that I sometimes dream of starting a small home based business. There is another reason too. My husband and I are both not very young. We are living on one income and our kids are very young. That is good enough reason to think of starting a small home based business but what could I do?
I am not very good at baking nor am I very good at sewing or handicraft. Perhaps I could sell used items. I have a lot of children's books but what to do when the books run out? Hmm.... I haven't much experience in any type of small home based business. I only have experience running conferences and selling shares!
Anyway, it is somewhere at the back of our minds. Perhaps we could get round to it one day. After all it is so easy now to build your own website. You do not need to have any technical knowledge or expertise to start a website for your home based business.
A business website is a must these days. Whatever business you are in, online is the way to go! Fortunately, as I mentioned, it isn't really hard at all to build a small business website. The hard part is coming up with the business idea and having the courage and business acumen to carry it off.

Towards a more frugal 2010
I have not been very good at saving money this year, 2009. My husband complains that my favourite word is "BUY!" :P Perhaps I should change it to "SAVE!" next year, 2010, which is just around the corner.
In order to change my "favourite word" to "SAVE!" I am listing down all the things I need to do and how I need to change my mindset to a more Frugal state of mind. I don't really do New Year Resolutions, I prefer to fix resolutions all year round. However, since New Year is just around the corner, maybe this could qualify as a New Year Resolution.
Here's what I hope to do:
- - Eat in more and eat out less. Eating out is so expensive. When eating out, choose what I eat carefully. It could really matter to my waistline as well as my purse! For example, I will drink mineral water instead because drinks are very expensive when eating at a restaurant
- - Go through my finances regularly. Check my bank statements against receipts to make sure there is no fraud. Know my bank balances
- - Use coupons and negotiate, negotiate, negotiate when I buy anything. For example, try to negotiate for better terms or extras when purchasing. Time my purchases during sales periods for a better bargain. Oh, there I go again. I just used my "favourite word" "BUY!" :P I shall learn to BUY smart next year
- - Buy only things I need. Make a shopping list when I go shopping and stick to it!
- - Review my insurance policy which just expired. I found that insurance is a good form of "forced savings" for me since I am not very good at saving. I also heard that you can save on auto insurance
- - Use my credit card carefully and make up to date payments. Try to save from paying credit interests
- - Buy less toys for the kids. Teach the kids to save too. Teach them about the importance of money and the importance of saving. I think that in any household, savings start with mom. So I shall start with me but I shall teach the kids too in the process
- - Spend less during the holidays. I must learn to budget during holidays. That will really help me to save. The year end holidays is almost over and I can see how much I've spent! I could have saved more if I had been more careful about my budget. Hmm... Anyway, we have Chinese New Year just round the corner. It is time to budget for that since we've spent so much during the Christmas holidays
I've been long winded as usual. To sum it up, in 2010, I hope to Save More and Spend Less. I really hope to keep my resolution. What about you?

A new friend
I don't have many friends. Whenever the time for festival comes, I would pout and poke my husband on the ribs whenever his phone beeps with yet another sms message. "Its for you, Mr. Popular." I would say. lol. Thats just sour grapes talking because I don't have any sms. I guess if I were still working it would perhaps be different?
However, I do have a few special friends. I think thats better than having lots of acquaintances. Having one friend in a million is better than having a sea of friends who don't really care.
Anyway, I am very happy to have made a new friend. Have you ever met anyone whom you clicked with just like that. Someone whom you can chat with on just about anything for just about any period of time. Someone whom you feel like you have known for a very long time when in fact you have just met? Its wonderful to have a friend like that.
Well, this is my new friend and I hope that you will help to vote for her blog because by doing so, you will be voting for Epilepsy Awareness and helping many people in the process. Thank you.

Mothers, do you maintain your friendships?
Credit for the Image: All About Girlfriends from Lou's Place (Its a very nice page and read. You should check it out) I think its really important to maintain your friendships because there is nothing like being able to share a cuppa with a good girlfriend chatting about oh you know the things that we girls like to chat about.
Sadly though, I have not been able to do that. I guess one reason could be because I married late. While I was busy partying, my girlfriends were all married and having babies. Now that I'm married and having young kids, their kids are all in the late teens. And all those other girlfriends I had been partying with are either still partying or married and divorced or remarried and moved away.
I'm so sad I have not been able to maintain my friendships. It takes a lot of effort to maintain friendships. You've got to keep in touch and be there for your friend and not just be a friend when you are free and available. Sadly, I have been so wrapped up with my own kids and family, I did not have time to maintain my friendships. What about you?

Where to get your restaurant supplies and equipment
This post is for those in the food business. Whether you are doing a small home catering business, just starting a small family bistro or running a full fledged restaurant, you should know where to get your Restaurant furniture, equipment and supplies. You can try Galasource for your Restaurant business supplies. They have over 300,000 products from over 300 vendors.
From what I can see, the supplies are rather comprehensive. Whether you are running a Chinese Restaurant, a Mexican Restaurant or looking something for a Hotel Banquet hall or for your Church, you'll find something here. From commercial ice machines to Bakery Equipment, from janatorial cleaning supplies to kitchen cooking utensils, you'll find these items easily from the categories listed on the sidebar.
If you don't want to use the categories to find the equipment you are looking for, you can further refine your search by using the search tool provided. For example, if you're looking for Commercial Refrigeration, you can type in those words (remember to put them in inverted commas for better results) and you will be provided with a list of commercial refrigeration equipment in a wide variety of styles or by brand name if thats what you prefer.
You can find wholesale prices, volume discounts and commercial deals. Like I mentioned, it has something for everyone in the food business.
