Another night incident.... on the 7th day of CNY.
I was woken up by a sound, the girl came to peer down at me from over the bed. I sleep on the floor. I asked her what was wrong but she did not answer me momentarily. She was drooling. I called out to daddy. He came immediately. He took her in his arms and she could speak to him then.
Yet again, we are not sure whether it was a minor seizure or a nightmare.
I read this article about Benign Rolandic Epilepsy and was worried about the similarities in what happened. However, based on my own knowledge and fears plus neurologist visits, perhaps I am looking for a needle in the haystack. Who knows?
All I can do is record it down, and continue to make sure she has little stress, enough rest and sleep and continue to pray for her safety and well being.
Making sure she has enough rest is a daily challenge with her school workload.

Huggs!! I cant imagine how worried u must be. Yup, I too make sure Abj has adequate rest & sleep (ya not easy as he's in form 1 now). He's off his meds fullyt since Dec. Will pray that it's nothing to worry.
ReplyDeleteMG, what sound did you hear? Only the drooling part is similar to the link you provided. Since she has gone thru the scan and everything is fine, i believe she's ok. Probably nightmare due to stress in school. Does your daughter twitch or jerk? Recently I notice that my daughter twitches and jerks when she's asleep. They don't wake her up but she keeps tossing and turning. There's lots of REM too *sigh* I am monitoring her now. I have been googling and those info on the net is very scary :(
ReplyDeletea&a'smom,
ReplyDeleteI am glad to heaer that Abj is doing well.
mommy to chumsy,
I can't be sure about the sound because I was asleep but went I asked her about it ie whether she had a bad dream, she told me "I felt as though my mouth was moving on its own and when you asked me what is wrong I could not utter anything." that worries me.. Sigh.
And despite the tests being negative or inconclusive so far, 1 of the neuros said there is a 50% chance she has epilepsy, another said, he saw something there (in the EEG), and another diagnosed her as possibly having BRE or Complicated Migraine.
ReplyDeletemommy to chumsy, I am sure that you don't have to worry about twitching, turning, tossing or turning but you can always mention it to the paed the next time you visit. They are probably as harmless as sleep talking for example. My paed said sleep talking was common or normal but once my girl scared me by speaking out 11 times during the night! The next day she had a fever and was feeling unwell, so I guess it must have been due to that!
ReplyDeleteThanks MG. I will check with her paed. I've read on the net (i know..i should really stop reading them) that children will grow out of this epilepsy. I hope that your daughter is just having nightmares and not otherwise. take care too, mommy :)
ReplyDeletemommy to chumsy,
ReplyDeleteYes, too much info is sometimes scary yah. The more you read, the more it scares you.
