Support for Your Loved One With Dementia

Your loved one who is suffering from dementia no longer has limited choices when it comes to their care or where they will live. In the past, they were either placed in nursing homes or lived with a family member. However, with the right supervision and care, they can continue to live in familiar surroundings in their own home.

Home Care is a Solution

Dementia is a progressive disease and there is no known cure. Alzheimer’s is one form of dementia. Loss of memory, being unable to focus, not perceiving their environment correctly, and the inability to use judgment and reasoning are just a few of the symptoms of dementia. This can make it difficult and dangerous for someone with this disease to live alone. Uprooting them and putting them in unfamiliar surroundings can make the situation worse.

Home care services have become increasingly popular recently as more people choose to stay in their home instead of moving in with family or an assisted living or nursing home. This can be a solution for your mom or dad, grandmother or grandfather that is showing signs of dementia. Home Care Connectors is one company that provides dementia care norwalk ct.

How a Home Care Worker Can Help

There are different types of home care workers from care givers to certified nursing assistants, nurses, and therapists. They can provide many different types of care, depending on your loved one's situation. For example, if your loved one has been diagnosed with dementia and needs help with the administration of their medication, it can be provided. People who suffer from dementia often forget to take their medicine or cannot remember if they already did so.

Care givers can help with preparing meals to ensure your loved one eats healthy. They can take them to doctor's appointments or pick up their medicine. Running errands, providing light housekeeping, and helping them to get around are a few more of the benefits provided by home care workers. Sometimes, just being there to listen and provide companionship for someone who is lonely can help.

What's a New Mom to Do? Blogging Suggestions During the Infant Years

Becoming a mom is a joyous occasion, but the everyday routine during the first year can be isolating. Your loved ones may be supportive, and you're looking for another way to express yourself in your new identity. Branch out to the blogging world where you can share your thoughts and feelings. You'll end up helping others as a result.

Practical Tips to Get Through the Day

Every new mom has questions about motherhood. Always offer practical tips to get any new mom through the day. Remind moms to nap when baby sleeps instead of cleaning up the house, for example. Your insights can help women who're struggling with their day-to-day routines.

Livening up Those Late Nights and Early Mornings

Some of the most fascinating blogs come from writings completed at 3 a.m. When baby keeps you up at night, start writing about the situation. Talk about how you bought toddler girl leather shoes that day, and the baby was tired from the outing. Add a humorous element to the writing as well. Early mornings might spark the comedian in you.

Adding in the Video Component

A great way to vary your blog is by adding in the occasional video component. Post a video that's around two or three minutes long. It might be an interaction between you and the baby. The post could be a personal account where you simply face the camera. If you find it interesting, your viewers will too.

Sparking Conversation

One of the best parts of blogging is the conversations that it starts. Each blog should have a comment section where questions and comments are welcomed. Be active in this arena, especially when your readers are participating in a discussion. The conversation will only improve the content, which drives more readers to your blog.

Don't compare your blog to others on the scene. You should be uniquely yourself. Readers will find it to be a refreshing perspective. Moms are always looking for the latest tips. Define an era by helping others with your newborn tips and tricks.

How Private Education May Be the Best Option for Your Child

It’s important that your child gets the best possible education. By choosing private school education Tampa Florida students can get the tailored education that they need in order to succeed. Particularly if public schools have disappointed you, it may be time to explore a private setting.

A Stronger Curriculum

One of the ways that a private education will vary is because the curriculum is stronger. All of the core subjects would be covered. Students will still participate in such things as PE and visual art. However, students may also take a foreign language, Bible lessons, and more. The goal would be to strengthen their values academically as well as spiritually. It can help a child to have a stronger sense of character.

A Tailored Approach

Many kids don’t respond to a one-size-fits-all curriculum. As such, a private school would take a tailored approach. It ensures that students get the opportunity to learn at their own pace. Plus, all of the learning isn't going to be classroom-based. They may be able to participate in field trips, multicultural events, and even trips to the Chapel for Bible study.

An Emphasis on Leadership

Private schools will emphasize building future leaders. It allows students to continuously learn and grow so that they don’t become bored. Additionally, they learn how to contribute positively to the community that they live in. When they learn how to become better leaders, it is also easier for them to transition from elementary school to middle school and high school programs. They are also more likely to succeed in a university setting.
If you want your child to have a better education, it might be time to look at private schools. They can get the extra help that they need and develop stronger core values.

Top Private Schools In Florida

Most parents would love for their children to come home with stellar report cards with a string of straight As. However, this takes effort on the child's part as well as the parent's. No, your job as a parent doesn't involve doing the homework for your child. However, if you facilitate a safe environment for your child to learn, this can help them increase their chances of absorbing information and learning. In order to help your child prepare for a successful school year, consider these three ways you can create that experience.

1. Connect with the teachers.

Get to know your child's teachers. Usually, there's an open house before school begins. There's also a back-to-school night. Make sure that you attend these events. Additionally, it's also important to develop a strong line of communication between yourself and the teacher. Whether it's every two weeks or every month, don't be afraid to check in with the teacher to find out how your child is doing. It's also nice to find out how you can facilitate an easier experience for the teacher. Even if your child attends one of the top private schools in Florida, the teacher usually has a full load and other students to consider.

2. Set up educational reinforcements.

This can happen in a variety of ways. Consider making bi-weekly visits to the local library. During these visits, your child can find new books that they want to read within the next two weeks. They can also enroll in different activities that the schools or libraries are hosting. Consider hiring a tutor to help your child with a specific subject they need to improve in. If your child is learning more about a specific subject in art history, take them to the museum so they can learn more about art history.

3. Create balance.

Don't become a parent that bombards your child with all of the tutoring, puzzles and educational graphics to drive them nuts. Provide balance for your child. If you sense that your child is experiencing a little bit of burnout, start to shift the routine. Make sure your child has time to play with their friends. Make sure they have an opportunity to disconnect from the school day. Make sure they have a chance to relax, rest and have fun.

Helping Your Children Develop Healthy Dental Habits

One of the most important things that a parent can do is to set their children up with good habits and a firm foundation of strong health. All parents know how important it is to make sure their kids have good, nutritious food, enough restful sleep, and regular checkups with a doctor. However, it is just as important for children to take care of their teeth. In fact, dental health affects all sorts of future health issues, making it especially crucial that your kids are in good shape.

First of all, make sure that you have a dentist that you trust and rely on. Your children should start seeing their dentist by one year of age. It also helps to have a dentist that is familiar with your kids in case of an emergency, especially during those busy and clumsy toddler years. Find a local dentist you can help you when you really need it. For example, if you need Charlotte emergency dentist, reach out to an established provider like Charlotte Dental Partners for your whole family.

Every day, practice a routine that takes care of your kids' teeth and sets them up for a lifetime of good dental habits. Choose a toothbrush that is the right size and shape for your child's mouth. Also, use dental floss or a hand-held, single-use floss holder that will fit your kids' smaller teeth. Let your kids feel like they are part of the process by allowing them to pick their own toothbrush and toothpaste. This way they will feel like they are part of the process and care more about the outcome.

Make brushing and flossing more fun by incorporating songs and stories. There are a number of kids' TV shows that talk about the importance of taking care of your teeth, so let your children's favorite characters help make brushing fun. Singing the same song every morning and night while brushing is good for two reasons. First, it makes the experience more fun. Second, it makes sure that your kids are brushing long enough to have a good effect. Pick a fun song that lasts about two minutes.

Taking care of your teeth is a crucial part of everyday hygiene. While teaching your kids the importance of taking care of their teeth, make sure you lead by example and take care of your own.

How to get your toddler to accept the new baby

The bun is in the oven..... again. You are expecting number 2 and will soon be a mother of 2. Will you have enough space in your heart to love another child? How can you get  your toddler to accept the new baby? These are questions that often race through the thoughts of a mother when she is expecting her second child.

Quite often, I get these question from mothers "Will I love my second child as much as my first child?" I always tell them that the more the merrier. The more children you have, the more chance you will have of receiving unconditional love, for that is the kind of love that children give. Unconditional love.

The more children you have, the more love you have to go around your house. Eventually they always come back to me and say "I never knew I had it in me to love another." It happens all the time. As a mother, you have the capacity to love as many children as you have.

However, what about your toddler? Will your toddler accept the new baby?

The key to acceptance is involvement. Involve your toddler every step of the way. Here are some ways you can involve your toddler in welcoming the new baby to your house.

  • Bring your toddler along to doctor visits
  • Show your toddler scans of the baby and explain to them where the head, hands etc are
  • Let your toddler feel your bulging tummy and talk to baby
  • Say "our" baby and "your" new brother or sister whenever referring to the baby
  • If possible, bring toddler along to the hospital to take baby home
My toddler accepted her newborn baby brother with ease with her complete involvement every step of the way. We didn't have anyone to watch her while we were at hospital during the delivery, so we brought her along. She was there to see baby as soon as he was cleaned. She slept on a sleeping bag together with daddy in the hospital room while mummy was breastfeeding baby. All the nurses thought she was adorable, this little girl in pink who didn't mind sleeping on the sleeping bag. We had wanted a bigger room but it was unavailable so we had to make do with a sleeping bag and she thought it was rather fun to camp out.

When we went home, our toddler went home along with us together with the newborn. We had our new extended family. Our toddler did not have to be separated from us during the process. She did not have to be taken care of by grandparents or aunts and wait anxiously at home for the newcomer to take over her position on the pedestal. She was part of it all.

I can't repeat it often enough. The most important way to help your toddler accept the baby is to involve her every step of the way, whenever practical. Good luck and congratulations on your new extended family.

Online games for Toddlers

Toddlers can play online games too. This post shows you some parent approved sites for toddlers to play games online.

Toddlers and Computers

Is a toddler too young to use a computer? I don't think so. Not with proper GUIDANCE. The keyword here is guidance. With proper parental guidance, toddlers can use, play, have fun and learn using the computer. They can also learn hand-eye coordination from online toddler games.

Here are a list of sites with suitable online toddler games my kids used to enjoy.

Excellent site for toddlers. The games are organised alphabetically, according to subject matter as well as themes or favourite Sesame Street character for easy searching.

First Class Transportation in Chicago

At one time, limousine service was considered the transportation province of the super wealthy or reserved for weddings. But today, more businesses and individuals are utilizing the convenience, prestige and comfort provided by a limo service. And many of those inquiring about a premier Chicago limousine service discover the cost to be within their budget.

At one time a limo was a “stretched” or elongated Cadillac or Lincoln that could service four to five people. Though many limos are still designed in this fashion, luxury SUV are also customized into a limo. Because they are higher off the road, ingress and egress is easier and more comfortable. In addition, some of the SUV limos are radically lengthened and can accommodate 10 or more riders.

For corporate business, many companies are finding the advantages of retaining a limo service. First, having a car service on call 24/7 provides a great convenience to the company.  Whether it is for a corporate executive needing to attend an important meeting across town, a client needing to be picked up from the airport, a quality limo service can have a vehicle available on short notice.

When other potential expenses are added in, such as fuel, tolls and parking, the limo service becomes more affordable, because these costs are covered by the service. If a company considers its own vehicle, the costs of purchasing and maintaining the vehicle and the salary of a standby driver, the cost of a service is often more economical.

There is of course the prestige of being transported in first class accommodations. But when entertaining a client, the more important message being sent is that the company is treating the client as special and important to the company.

Outside of the corporate world, many are discovering the advantages of limo rental for a group night out, whether it is a man’s night or a girl’s night out. Usually a group of 5-10 people will pool their funds to rent a limo for an evening, to attend a sporting event or a concert. When the fees are divided between 5-10 people, the cost is much more affordable.

With a limo service, there is no need for several vehicles and the group can travel together, enjoying each other’s company without the worry of traffic or parking. If alcohol is involved in the event, the limo service provides a safety factor, eliminating the need for a designated driver or worrying that one of the group might be driving impaired.

Dental Implants For Chron Disease Patients

Chron’s disease is a persistent inflammatory bowel disease that often affects the digestive tract’s lining. This disease can cause severe dehydration due to significant amounts of excrement exiting the body. It can also affect dental health because dehydration causes the mouth to dry up increasing the rate of bacterial infections in the mouth.

Severe dehydration may also affect jaw bones and teeth due to lack of adequate amounts of saliva in the mouth. This presents a challenge to patients who want to use dental implants because weak jaw bone composition and teeth structure rules out the use of dental implants as a dental treatment option. Fortunately, certain medications can help heal chron’s disease and allow patient to use dental implants to treat their dental problems. Otherwise, chron’s disease can worsen dental conditions such as cavities, making it difficult for patients to comfortably bite and chew food.

Supplemental Procedures
Patients with chron’s disease must treat the condition first before seeking treatment for their dental problems. Early treatment can prevent the disease from worsening oral health problems. Some of the treatment options for chron’s disease include supplemental dental procedures such as soft tissue augmentation and bone graft to remodel damaged dental structure. However, these only work for people who have the disease under control. A patient suffering from physical erosion of the jaw bone may require a bone graft, which involves performing bone tissue transplant. This process involves the removal of all fractured and damaged teeth or bone tissues and replacing them with new and healthy tissue. The recovery period for this dental procedure may range from three to four months depending on the severity of the condition and the amount of bone tissue that was replaced.

Why Dental Implants?
Dental implants are effective dental treatment options. Unlike tooth replacement, dental implants are able to restore the oral and dental health of the patient with time. By protecting the remaining teeth and gum tissue from harmful bacteria, they can prevent gum disease and increase the density of the teeth and jaw with every bite. Dental implants allow patients to achieve a healthy bite and mastication potential that allow the teeth and the jaw bones to heal themselves. The effects of dental implants can last a lifetime with proper dental care. Many people use implant aesthetics to improve the look of their dental implants.

What To Do With Your Pet When You Go On Vacation

Pets bring so much to our lives. They truly become part of the family, so it’s a bit traumatic when we have to travel and leave them behind. While many pets travel well, there may be times in your life when you just can’t bring them along. Consider investigating care options before you need them. It’s so much nicer to already have a plan, than to feel like you didn’t have enough time to make the right choice for your beloved pet. Here are some things to consider when kenneling a dog, but many apply to other pets as well:

Space

Be sure to ask whether the area where your dog is kenneled is temperature controlled. You’ll want to know how much interaction they will have with other dogs and ask what precautions are taken if a dog becomes ill. Ask about the simple things like bedding. Many offer raised cots for their guests. If your dog has a preferred type of bedding, ask if you are allowed to bring anything from home. Be sure to check on the number of potty breaks offered and where those will occur. Ask for a tour of the facility so that you can get a feel for what your dog’s time away from home will be like.

Play Time

Depending on how socialized your dog is, it can be very important to understand the type of play time the dogs are offered. Find out whether there is one-on-one playtime with a facility employee, or whether playtimes are always ‘group’ play. In group play situations, ask how they handle dogs that become aggressive.

Meals

Ask about the type of food provided, and how frequently your pet will be fed. In many instances, you have input as to the number of meals your dog receives and the timing of those meals.

Special Needs Pets

If you have an older dog, or one with other special needs, look for a facility that allows you to provide your own food. You may also want to ask about extra potty breaks and the administration of medicine. Look for a facility that allows you to request one-on-one only playtimes, if necessary. You’ll need to be your pet’s advocate to make sure that the care is delivered in a way that keeps your pup free from additional stress.

There are a wide variety of kenneling options out there. You’ll find you can get luxury dog boarding, or just the basics. Paw Print Inn is a good example of a facility that offers pet owners a broad spectrum of choices, designed to put both owner and pet at ease. If you’ve done your research in advance, you’ll feel so much more comfortable knowing that you’re leaving your beloved pet in capable hands.

I Hate Housework

I'm currently facing a HAD crisis. HAD stands for Housework Avoidance Disorder, a term I coined up at a whim.

You see, I've tried all sorts of ways to complete my housework but they never ever seem to be completed. That's the problem.

First, I tried to do it all on one day. I spring cleaned the entire house for 4 hours non-stop cleaning bathrooms, floors, counter tops, fans, aircons, blah blah blah. Then I sit back and relax the rest of the week. That proved to be really tiring and kills my enjoyment on one day of each week.

Next, I tried spot cleaning. 10 minutes for each spot. That's all it takes, I told myself. I ended up cleaning all day long on various 10 minute sessions.

Then, I tried to do it one room at a time. So Monday it was bedroom 1, Tuesday the playroom, Wednesday the living room etc. However, the floors in the cleaned room gets dirty easily when you step from the uncleaned one to the cleaned one. Big sigh.

So, I tried the specialization trick. Mondays was reserved for floors, Tuesdays all the bathrooms, Wednesday was for wiping. Boring!

I also tried to clean as you go, cleaning as I move from one part of the house to another and cleaning the bathroom during a shower. That too ended up in cleaning all day long.

I haven't tried house chores apps but no I don't think so. How annoying it would be to get a reminder notification to do more housework. No, thank you.

Epic fail on all the various methods.  Housework is never ending and a work in progress all of the time. What should I do? Oh what should I do? Any suggestions would be most  helpful!
